QQC #5

Quote: "In his scientific efforts Newton somewhat reassembled a live volcano, with long periods of quiescence punctuated from time to time by massive eruptions of almost superhuman activity."

Question: How could people trust in Newton if he seems to only come out to the light every specific moment? How is Newton’s mind when he is not having these "eruptions?"

Comment: It seems to me that if Newton had his moments of his ingenuity and smarts, that people would trust him because it seems that he would be the person to come, show his findings ands then just disappear. So I’m would really like to know how that worked. Did he go to gatherings? Was he actively in any sort of mathematicians group or council? What happened that made him have "eruptions" of thoughts and come up with a lot of the math we know today.
